using WebCT at UWG.
Open House Sessions
Available On Request and All Levels
One-one-one
assistance is available on the topic of your choice. Attendees may
specify the time desired. Please let us know that you are coming &
what type of assistance is needed, so that we will have proper
resources on hand. Bring any necessary files formatted for a PC. (If a
faculty member is unable to attend a workshop, the DDEC staff will do
it's best to accomodate their schedule for an individual appointment).

Introduction to Distance Learning at UWG
As well
as hands-on work with WebCT, the workshop will provide information
concerning the policies and procedures for Distance Learning at the
University of West Georgia. Focus is on appropriate courses and course
work for distance learning. Discussion will center on the changing role
of teacher in distance learning (as facilitator) and role of the
student as responsible participant in his/her education is examined.
The necessary communication climate of online classrooms to support
these roles is also examined. Standards for distance learning courses
will be included, emphasizing the necessity and proper methods of
distance learning assessment and evaluation. |

Supporting Distance Learners in the Lab (for Lab Assistants)
This
session is specifically designed to provide student lab assistants and
other technical support personnel with a basic understanding of WebCT
and its technical requirements. Participants will also gain
enough understanding of WebCT tools to provide a first line of support
to UWG distance students who are using campus labs to access their
online courses. |

Introduction to WebCT Vista
UWG will
migrate to a new version of WebCT, called VISTA, by Fall 2004. What is
VISTA? Why are we migrating? What’s the estimated timeline when will
you migrate and how? Come learn about the advantages and possibilities
that VISTA offers. There will be a question and answer period for those
who wish to stay after the workshop.

WebCT Vista: Getting
Started in VISTA 2.0
Prerequisites:
If you did not attend the Introduction
to WebCT Vista workshop , (1) view the PowerPoint
presentation notes and (2) view the Vista

Course Description:
Introduction to building a course in WebCT VISTA. Participants will logon
to WebCT VISTA, complete the Getting
Started Tutorial (includes a review of Build options, adding tools
to the Course Toolbar, adding Components to the Course Home page,
adding a Chat Room and Discussions, and Editing Links). Participants
will also be given access to a blank course in which they may begin
re-creating their current WebCT 3.8 course in VISTA. If the participant
