Online Degrees and Programs

eCore (Core courses offered fully online)

The University of West Georgia is a proud "host" institution for the University System of Georgia's eCore program. eCore—short for electronic core-curriculum—allows University System of Georgia (USG) students the opportunity to complete their first two years of their collegiate careers in an online environment. eCore courses are taught entirely online, except for the occasional proctored exam. eCore offers courses in English, mathematics, science, history, and the social sciences that are designed, developed, taught and supported by faculty and staff from the USG.

eCore is not a formal degree program but is a convenient and adaptable option for either getting started in college or for resuming college after a break or pause. The core curriculum primarily consists of courses required during the first two years of college for a given degree. Not all core curriculum classes are available via eCore; you may need to take some core classes in a traditional classroom setting.

The Georgia WebMBA ® at the University of West Georgia

The University of West Georgia’s Richards College of Business is a member of The Georgia WebMBA®.  The Georgia WebMBA® offers highly qualified students the ability to earn an accredited Masters of Business Administration degree in a convenient and flexible online setting. As a WebMBA student, you will be able to build upon your current career success while also deepening your knowledge base and will be able to apply what you are learning at your work place.

The Georgia WebMBA® consists of highly qualified professors from six University System of Georgia institutions, in which the University of West Georgia is included.

The Richards College of Business MBA Program at the University of West Georgia is delivered in three formats:

On Campus in Carrollton: Courses are offered in the evening. Students enroll full-time or part-time. Students are admitted each semester.

The Newnan Center: Courses are offered in seven or eight week blocks. Students enroll part-time and take one course at a time. Courses are scheduled one night a week. Students complete the degree program in approximately 22 months. Students are admitted each semester.

The Georgia WebMBA: A cohort-based program. All courses are offered completely online. Students complete the degree in 22 months. Students are admitted in fall and spring semesters.

Master of Science in Nursing Program: Post Master's Certificate in Nursing Education

The Department of Nursing post-master's certificate program is designed for master's prepared nurses who desire further education for roles in teaching.

Nursing education - The program of study requires 10 credit hours and addresses innovations in curriculum, instructional skills and strategies, the development and use of educational technology, and educational assessment and evaluation. Students develop expertise in health education and promotion, patient education, professional development, or college/university teaching. Graduates meet the educational requirements to sit for the national certification examination as a nurse educator.

Admission is limited to master's prepared registered nurses licensed in the state in which the practica will occur. applicants must have an earned master's degree in nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program. The certificate may be earned in a minimum of 12 months. Internet access is required. The majority of coursework is provided online with minimal face to face meetings.

Individualized practica experiences will be based on students' learning needs and previous teaching experiences. Students have the opportunity to learn with master teachers and qualified preceptors in various educational settings. Media and Instructional Technology

The programs in Media and Instructional Technology are designed to prepare school library media specialists, directors of media services, instructional technologists, and instructional technology coordinators at the graduate level. The programs reflect the latest research in the field, effective practices in the profession, and successful leadership models. The programs lead to Georgia Department of Education certification at the
S-5, and S-6 levels.

The department offers classes through a variety of distance technologies.  The "Course Offerings" site lists the classes and the format in which they are delivered.  This list is updated as changes take place so that students can carefully plan their programs.

  • The Add-On program in Media has 92% of classes delivered online with only 1 to 3 face-to-face meetings per class.
  • The Master's in Media program for School Library Media Specialists has 92% of classes delivered online with only 1 to 3 face-to-face meetings per class.
  • The Master's in Media for Instructional Technologists has 92% of classes delivered online with 0 to 2 face-to-face meetings per class.
  • The Ed.S. programs in Media for both School Library Media Specialists and Instructional Technologists is 100% online with 0 to 2 face-to-face meetings per class.

P-12 Education: ESOL Endorsement Certificate (partially online)

The three required courses for ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) Endorsement Certificate are offered on a rotating basis every semester. Courses are typically delivered partially online. P-12 Education: READ Endorsement Certificate (partially online)

The three required courses for READ (Reading) Endorsement Certificate are offered on a rotating basis every semester, on campus or partially online. For more specific information about the READ program please see: http://coe.westga.edu/ci/programsGrad.html


In addition to these programs, distance courses in many disciplines are also offered each term. Please check the Class Bulletin at http://banweb.westga.edu. Select PDL - Partial D/L or TDL - Total D/L. These imply partial or total Distance Learning.
