Audacity
Setting Preferences
Checking your preferences is an important step, as it defines the properties for your project, including file type and sample rate.
- Select "Preferences from the "Edit" menu or press Ctrl+P
- On the "Audio I/O" tab, make sure your playback and recording devices are valid
- On the "Quality" tab, set the sample rate to the desired level
- Finally, on the "Audio Files" tab, select the options that best suit your needs. It is recommended that you choose "Make a copy of the file before editing" and "Always copy all audio into project," as these options create a safer working environment in case something happens to your computer or the files you are editing
- You can choose what file type you want in the "Export"dialog box, found by selecting "Export" from the "File" menu
